General Hospital Special Reaches 3.1 Million Viewers in Live+7 Day Ratings

The new year keeps on bringing positive news for General Hospital! The primetime anniversary special, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling was a hit for ABC. Now comes word that the special has surged to new highs when Live+7-Day viewing is included.
As previously reported, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling was watched by 2.565 million viewers. The anniversary special ranked a solid second in the 10 O’Clock hour.
The retrospective outperformed General Hospital’s 2023-24 season average in daytime by a substantial 27 percent. The primetime special also performed well in a variety of demographics notably in adults 18-34 and adults 25-54- with a larger share of male viewers than anticipated.
The 60th anniversary special grew by 528,000 viewers in delayed viewing
With a full week of DVR playback tallied, climbed 21 percent from the Live+Same-Day total. The additional 528,000 viewers brings the cumulative audience to an impressive 3.093 million viewers.
General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling was given a huge promotional push by ABC- one that has had a halo effect on General Hospital’s daytime performance.
During the week of Christmas, General Hospital climbed 125,000 viewers to 2.040 million viewers. This ended a four-week streak of losses by the ABC soap opera.
The following week which coincided with the primetime special, General Hospital hit a season-high 2.175 million viewers. Over two weeks, General Hospital added 260,000 viewers- and earned its most-watched week since June of 2023.
General Hospital doesn’t seem to be slowing down either. Errol Lewis, editor-in-chief of Soap Opera Network, shared in a post on social media site X that another season-high was hit by General Hospital this past week.
