Latest Soap Opera Ratings: Week of 2/4/22

There was good news for all four soap this week. ‘Young And The Restless’ continued its undefeated streak at number one in all three categories while posting large increases compared to a year ago although ‘Bold And The Beautiful’ did lose viewers from last week and last year. ‘General Hospital’ had a big bounce week-to-week in all three categories, especially among women 18-49. Heading into its break for the Winter Olympics, ”Days of Our lives’ had a great week across the board and tied its second biggest audience of the season.
Y&R Up Most From Last Year in Viewers, GH Surges in Women 18-49,
‘Y&R’ pulled in 3.584 million viewers, up two percent from last week as an additional 60,000 people turned in. The hour-long CBS soap was up the most of any viewer year-to-year, with an increase of 240,000 (up 7%). Season-to-date, ‘Y&R’ is averaging 3.532 million viewers ahead of last year and in-line with its final average in the 2019-20 season.
In both women 18-49 and 25-54,’Y&R’ increased by 0.02 week to week. In women 18-49, that made for an increase of five percent to a 0.40 rating which was down from last year’s 0.42 rating (-5%). Among women 25-54, ‘Y&R’ was up to a 0.66 rating increasing by three percent but was off by ten percent from last year.
‘B&B’ dips slightly
‘B&B’ was he only soap to slip in total viewers as it fell 1 percent from the previous week and lost 19,000 viewers to average 2.942 million viewers. Compared to the year before, the half-hour CBS was practically flat soap dipped just 6,000 viewers. Season to date, ‘B&B’ is averaging 2.914 million viewers.
Among women 18-49 and 25-54, ‘B&B’ did much better, with a six percent increase to a 0.35 rating and four percent increase to a 0.57 rating respectively.’B&B’ was down ten percent from last year’s 0.37 rating and off by twelve percent by women 25-54 when it averaged a 0.65 rating. Season to date, ‘B&B’ is averaging a 0.34 and a 0.57 rating in the respective demographics.
GH Surges in Women 18-49
‘GH’ had a great week pulling in 17,000 more viewers than last week and averaged a 2.212 million viewers. ‘GH’ continues to improve over the year before with 60,000 more viewers tuning in. So far this season, ‘GH’ is pulling in roughly 2.204 million viewers a week up from this point in the season last year, when it averaged 2.086 million viewers. The ABC soap is also ahead of the 2019-20 season average at this point when it averaged 2.164 million viewers.
‘GH’ was up from the previous week in both demographics. Among women 25-54, ‘GH’ was up six percent from last week’s 0.51 to a 0.54 rating. Unfortunately, the ABC soap fell from the year before by 14 percent when it had a much stronger 0.63 rating. So far this season, ‘GH’ is averaging a 0.53 rating.
‘GH’ had a much better performance in women 18-49, surging by 17% from last week’s 0.30 rating to tie B&B’s 0.35 rating for second place. Compared to last year, ‘GH’ only slipped by .02 points, a decline of just five percent. Season-to-date, GH is nearly tied with B&B for second place in the demographic with a 0.33 rating.
‘DAYS’ Has Big Bounce in Women 25-54 Before Hiatus
‘DAYS’ added more viewers week to week than any of its peers, adding 77,000 viewers to its audience. With 1.850 million viewers, ‘DAYS’ had its second highest rated week of the year and in a rarity for the NBC soap was up by 68,000 viewers from last year. Season-to-date, ‘DAYS’ is averaging 1.708 million viewers.
The NBC soap jumped eight percent in women 18-49 to hit 0.27 rating, but was down 21 percent from the year before. ‘DAYS’ also added more women 25-54 week to week than its peers, tying for the second highest of the season with a 0.42 rating. Year over year, ‘DAYS’ was down by 14 percent. Season-to-date, the NBC soap is averaging 0.26 in women 18-49 and 0.38 among women 25-54.
This week the NBC soap only aired four episodes due to the beginning of the network’s coverage of the Winter Olympic . ‘DAYS’ returns with new episodes beginning Monday, February 21st after the conclusion of the games.
