Young and The Restless

Young and The Restless continued its (practically) uninterrupted four-decade spanning run at the top, with 3.638 million viewers tuning in this past week. This was a decline of 34,000 viewers from last week but was a statistically insignificant drop of less than 1 percent. Even with the decline, this was the second-highest-rated week of Y&R since April 2020. Compared to last year, Y&R was up 12 percent, more than any other soap this week, with an additional 404,000 viewers tuning in. Season to date, Y&R is averaging 3.578 million viewers, which is up 18 percent from the same time last year when it averaged just 3.3039 million viewers. Y&R is currently pulling in more viewers than the final season averages forth last season and the 2019-2020 season.

In the demographics of women ages 18-49, Y&R was up from last week by 2%, improving from .39 to .40, but dropped from last year’s .44 by 9 percent. Despite the drop, Y&R is averaging .404 in the demographic season to date and running even with last season’s average. In the older demographic, Y&R matched last week’s .65 rating but down a sizable 14 percent from last year’s .76 rating. This brought its average for the season to .654, down 5 percent from last year’s .69 average.

Major events this past week: The wedding seemed to go off without too many complications, although Victor planned to eliminate Gaines as a wedding gift to his daughter, Victoria, and her new husband, Ashland. The support of the newlyweds continued as Victor threatened to take everything away from Billy if he continued to interfere in his daughter’s relationship. Sally and Adam kissed once again. A furious Lauren accused Chloe of betrayal and urged Chloe to fire Sally. Later, Sally was startled by Lauren’s accusations. Abby was left in a state of denial by Christine’s shocking news about Chance.

Bold and The Beautiful

Bold and the Beautiful hit a season-high in total viewers, pulling in 2.982 million this week. The half-hour CBS soap opera was the only one to increase from last week in viewers as it added 76,000 viewers for a 3 percent increase. B&B performed even better compared to last year, increasing 6 percent as it gained an additional 176,000 viewers. B&B is up 5 percent from last year’s season to date with an average of 2.934 million viewers. In the demographics, B&B was flat week-to-week in women 18-49 but inched up to .55 in women 25-54. Compared to last year, B&B was down 14% in the younger demo and 19% in women 25-54. Through this point last season, B&B averaged .37 in women 18-49 compared to .35 this season (-6%) and is down from 14 percent from the .66 rating in women 25-54 it earned last year to .57 this season.

Last week on B&B, Carter unloaded on Katie after his heartbreaking encounter with Quinn. Hope learned that Thomas and Paris were living together, much to her surprise. Eric grilled Carter as Carter found himself connecting more with Katie. Sheila shocked Finn and Hope with her PDA with Deacon. Donna confessed her longtime love for Eric still being a factor for her and encouraged him to think of a life outside Quinn. All the adoration sent Eric back to Quinn where they made love. Liam and Steffy got closer hoping to keep their spouses’ ex-con parents from meddling in either Fine or Hopes’ lives.

General Hospital

General Hospital dropped 31,000 to 2.18 million viewers but was up 10 percent year to year with 206,000 more viewers this time around. The ABC soap opera is averaging 2.253 million viewers for the season so far, up 17 percent and 221,000 viewers from 1.932 million at this point last year. This is the best start to a season that GH has had since the fall of 2018 when it averaged 2.32 million viewers. The season-average is higher rated than the final averages for the last two seasons and just 23,000 below 2018-2019 when it pulled in 2.276 million viewers. In the demographics, GH dropped in both categories, dipping to a .29 in women 18-49 and .48 in women 25-54, down 6 and 11 percent respectively. Compared to last year, the ABC soap was down 17 percent in both categories. Year to date, GH is down 2 percent in women 18-49 and 6 percent in women 25-54.

Nikolas was unsure how to proceed with Spencer and sought Kevin’s counsel on the subject. Ava found herself hoping to sell Charlie’s, and ended up with two surprising possible buyers in Nina and Sonny. Spencer refused to buckle to Nikolas and Ava but found himself facing an unfamiliar situation. A mystery man watched Curtis and Portia and later staged a run-in with TJ. Portia and Curtis discussed his childhood. Robert grilled Victor and pressed Valentin to keep Anna from helping the back from the dead Cassidine. Michael begins to worry Willow as he seeks out revenge. Austin ruffled Brooklynn’s feathers over ELQ and she ruffled right back- setting the stage for innocent children to face the consequences. Peter was revealed to have a surprising ally as his conditioning of Drew appears to be stronger than ever.

Days of Our Lives

Days of Our Lives ranked last in all three categories once again this week. The NBC soap averaged 1.583 million viewers, down 24,000 from last week and by 6 percent from last year. DAYS is down 5 percent in total viewers from last season’s 1.689 million viewer average through the same five weeks. In women 18-49, DAYS held at a .25 rating, matching last week’s performance but down a huge 26 percent year to year. In women 25-54, DAYS dipped 5 percent from last week’s .38 to .36 and tumbled 26 percent from last year’s .49 in the demographic. Season to date, DAYS is down 23 percent in women 25-54 with a .37 average rating and 24 percent from last year in women 18-49 with a .25 rating.

Last week on DAYS, Victor made a deal with his new soulmate Trask to save Justin from prison. In jail, both Justin and Xander and Gwen and Bonnie discussed their predicaments. Philip continued to pursue Chloe despite advice from Lucas and Kate to the contrary. Johnny’s movie hit a roadblock as Roman refused to fund. Satan tricked John, but only for so long. The prince of darkness revealed to John exactly what was going on with Marlena later that week. EJ’s date with Nicole was ruined by a “drunk” Kayla. Jake attempted to protect Gabi but Abe ended up being shot in the process. A wounded Abe ended up in critical condition and the week ended with Abe flatlining.
