It only took the longest two weeks of my lifeget to this ceremony but we finally made it through 12 hours in Port Charles time to get through this wedding. And what a payoff. That was the single best non-outdoor, wedding ceremony on a budget for two adults over the age of 50, I’ve ever seen. And my guess for who got Lily Rivera-ed by the car bomb? Mr. Buscema and Mr. Novak. Duh.

I hope the two corpulent, caricatures don’t put a damper on the proceedings, because usually an explosion in the church parking lot has that effect. I mean. Buscema and Novak totally had it coming. But what kind of monsters plan to blow up the couple before the reception? I didnt want to believe that they didn’t care about the plight of the other guests, but their behavior is pretty telling. They opted not to suffer through the indignity of using Family Dollar Bubble Makers, let poor Ms. Wu sit next to that horrible dress Willow was trapped in AND didn’t plan to kill Gladys which was the only thing Jason and Carly registered at JC Penney for. Thankfully, Ms. Wu is justice-minded and saved the reception. Hear is hoping she bombed the vehicle of whoever told Maxie that dress was a good idea.

Fall Out At Nixon Falls

Sonny loses his memory, Nina loses her mind. Both find love- with each other.” In retrospect, it sounds interesting. But somehow ” 58-year-old amnesiac, bipolar mobster smitten by 50-something woman mistaking her pathological moral deficiencies as a mix of personality quirks, who is willing to lie to everybody she knows for no reason other than to keep a man in a shithole town” just didn’t do it for me. Sure, the high society firehouse dance and depravity of that strip mall development mystery they solved in Corinth could not have been executed better. I’m shocked that I wasn’t overjoyedwatching a kind woman lose the only person she has left in life to cancer and lose her small business in the same week. Certainly couldn’t be that they shoe-horned Peter into the story. Definitely not that.

On to what truly matters. What’s next for Mrs. Phyllis Caulfield? Phyllis’ reaction to Sonny Corinthos as opposed to ‘Kind Mike’ made me feel like SHE had to watch the Carly and Jason’s dime store wedding. In all fairness, Phyllis has had her world turned upside down in a amount of time. First, Lenny died, then gets taken hostage by Peter, has to lisrten to his supervillain monologue, finds out that Nina is a shitty person and lunatic for keeping the truth from Sonny (bonus for being both!), survives a traumatic fire at the Tan-O caused because Nina allowed that psychotic to menace her AND lost her one tangible connection to her late husband when the Tan-O burned down. Also I am pretty sure she and Mike lived there, too. Since Nina did some reprehensible lying and Mike is actually a crime lord who is the exact opposite of Mike in every way. What can Phyllis do at this point? If it meant getting out of Nixon Falls, I’d do whatever it takes- including walking back into the fire. The town is a shithole.

Nina No-Friends

Nina doesn’t look like she survived a 20 year coma that may have had severe brain damage, but she sure acts like it. Like when she told her three year old grandson Wiley that Willow wasn’t his mom. Or when she agreed to testify on Nelle’s behalf at the custody hearing only to lose it and call her a bad mother? Let’s not forget the whole “I am trying to snatch your baby out of you, Ava. Don’t worry. I helped a horse give birth once! But the whole Nixon Falls debacle is another level. Sonny was onto something in his response to Nina’s declaration of love by forbidding her to do it again. Can somebody say that to her about eveerything stupid she does? Phyllis is the woman who needs to do it, and she might want to add “You are a acrazy bitch. You belong in a coma. I’m glad your daughter is dead and away from you!” But those are things a real friend would say and she doesn’t have many of those.

If I am counting correctly, Nina’s only possible friends right now are Jax and Ava. And to be honest Jax looks Iffy at best, although it’s arguable what moral leg he has to stand on. I mean, after buying kidneys off the black market, encouraging his ex-wife to lie about the death of Nelle, keeping the truth about Nelle from her when he found out she was her mom, and most recently leaving Sonny to die in a fire. Ava may give Nina a chance- to be honest, Ava did cause the death of Morgan AND killed Connie Falconeri. Still, Nina kept Ava from her instead, AND that’s not cool. Plus, Ava has had her shit to deal with, and Nina hasn’t been a good friend to her or anybody. Does she even feel guilty about not warning Maxie about Peter? Seriously? She sent Liesl on a mission that almost killed her and kept Britt in the dark about how she may have ended up missing. At this rate, Nina’s possible options for friends are looking like Gladys and… well, that’s it. I’d rather be on fire in Nixon Falls than be friends with Gladys.

Total Jacks-Ass

And what will come of Jax? Nina is his only storyline right now, and if he doesn’t like her, it’s only because she is over him . Sorry, Jax- rejection for you again! Jax may end up offering to help Phyllis too, but she probably will reject his offer. I am sensing a pattern here. He really isnt much better than Nina in many ways. His half-assed attempt to call Maxie once about Peter. Jax also dropped the ball by not letting anybody know about Sonny- he left it up to the woman who has continued to lie for months! He didn’t even tell Sonny when he was right in front of him! Jax is as effective as a handjob from somebody else – it’s rarely good, you might as well do it yourself, and you always have a mess on your hands. Jax has a lot to atone for himself. The least he can do is give Sonny a ride back to Port Charles.
