Kimberly McCullough, Outstanding Younger Actress (1989,1996)

No soap opera character makes it through the entire run without being rapidly aged off screen and recast. But Kimberly McCullough was an exception having had such chemistry with stars Tristan Rogers and Finola Hughes, she was featured as much as they were. Her performance as Robin Scorpio won her an Emmy at just 11 years old, ending a seven year drought for GH actors at the award show. As the actress aged, Robin grew up in real time, dealing with all that life through at her in a way rarely seen on a soap. When writer’s chose to write an AIDS related storyline, they choseRobin become infected with HIV took a teen love story it shook the series and the audience to the core. The impact of the storyline can’t be overstated and is considered the last great social issue story the genre tackled in a thoughftful manner. This earned the actress her second Emmy in 1996. The actress recently returned to honor John Reilly marking 35 years in the role.
